We met and began dating while students at Hope College and were married in August of 2017. Pat was the director of student ministries at Community Reformed Church in Zeeland, Michigan for five years and is also working on finishing a Masters of Divinity through Western Theological Seminary. Kara earned her Masters of Social Work degree and was a mental health therapist in Holland, Michigan.
In February of 2018, God led us to Jamaica with our church and our lives were forever changed. There, we served with the Caribbean Christian Centre for the Deaf (CCCD), an organization that provides the Deaf with an accessible education, authentic community, and knowledge of the Gospel through the operation of three residential schools and one Deaf village.
We now live in Jamaica at CCCD's Jamaican Deaf Village with our son, Silas (and dog, Rosie). We serve both adults and children in the Deaf community and alongside short-term mission teams. We utilize both of our ministry experiences, along with Pat's leadership skills and seminary education and Kara's counseling experience and interpersonal skills to do this.
